Rubies are regarded as one of the most valuable gemstones and called the “King of Gems”. Named from the Latin word for its hue, rubens, meaning red, ruby represents the values of desire, passion and power. Moreover, rubies are mined around the world, in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Pakistan, Vietnam, Australia, India, Sri Lanka, and Russia.
Since color of gemstone is the major factor to assess the quality and appraise its value, GIT has conducted the research and established Colored Stone Master Standard to create the accurate understanding and used as measure for colored stone’s quality evaluation in the market. Recently, "Rabbit's Eye Red" ruby which aimed to fulfill the gap in the ruby color standard and to commemorate Chanthaburi as the "City of Gems" as rabbit is a symbol of Chanthaburi province, had been launched by GIT. With its color, pinkish red or reddish pink as a rabbit's eyes, makes it highly in demand.
