The Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission Unveil Three Goals in Developing the Energy Industry

The Office of the Energy Regulatory Commission has recently unveiled a drive for three goals in supervising and overseeing the energy sector by improving the regulatory infrastructure and supporting the increasing of competition by gradually increasing the role of the private sector in the energy business.

The aim is to liberalize the Thai energy sector of the future. The three goals are
- To adjust the infrastructure in energy governance both electricity and natural gas. This will be done by giving access to third parties, namely the private sector, to join and use the infrastructure of the energy network, including electricity, natural gas, and natural gas storage facilities.
- Adaptation to cope with technological changes and green energy, including support for the government policies in driving the electric vehicle industry (EV) and EV Charging Station.
- Supervision in the social dimension and protecting energy users with the aim to upgrade and strengthen the creation of constructive engagement which continuously improves consumer energy protection.
